Sabdamala is a community driven initiative with a vision to provide students exposure to the Nepali language and the Nepalese socio-cultural practices in Sydney. The target group includes students of Nepalese origin residing in Sydney from the age of 5 to 12. Sabdamala attempts to provide the younger generation of Nepalese a platform in becoming wholesome and grounded persons who can embrace both the ways of their ancestors and their new home, Australia. 

The setup of Sabdamala was initiated by Guthi Australia (GA) and the Gurkha Nepalese Community (GNC) and builds on the developments made by the GNC through its Nepalese Children’s Activity Group (NCAG), a program initiated by the GNC in Sydney for children of Nepalese origin in 2004. 

Previously run by a steering committee with representatives from GA and the GNC, Sabdamala is now a fully functional, independent entity and is managed by the Sabdamala Management Committee (SMC). Current SMC is comprised of representatives from parents, academic staffs and community volunteers. The ownership of the school rests with the wider Nepalese community of Sydney, Australia. 

Currently the classes are operating at two locations: 

Granville Public School, Lena Street, Granville NSW 2142 
Campsie Public School, Evaline Street, Campsie NSW 2194 

The hours of operations at both locations are between 10:00 – 12:00 on Sundays during NSW School Terms.
